I’m interested, how do I begin?

Getting Ready

E-mail a clear close up photo like this one

sophiephoto.

See how Sophie takes up 90% of the photo?  This is an ideal photo.

Be sure to include your name, address and phone number and the size of the portrait you would like.

For Digital Photos:  If possible, e-mail the RAW photo file.    Do not use the photo software that comes with your camera.  Photo software decreases the resolution of the image.  Save the file directly to your desktop from the camera.

How do I convert photo prints into digital images?

You'll need a scanner to do this. If you do not have a  scanner, ask your local Internet cafe or photo/copy shop to scan your photos onto a  disk/CD. Photos should be scanned at 300 dpi in 24-bit color.  Photos smaller than 4x6" should be scanned at 400 dpi (or higher). The  scanned image must then be saved as a High-Quality JPEG file. The size of  the JPEG file should NOT exceed 5 MB.

Which photos should I use?

Always choose photos that are sharp (not out of focus) and large enough to show details  that you want seen in the artwork. I need to see fine details such as a  pets/person's eyes.  Then, make sure you like the photo. I can work off photos that are blurry, dark & small but additional charges may apply (and the work will take longer to complete).

How should I pack my photo prints and where should they be sent?

If you are sending more than one photo, please label your photos (and) refer to them using the labels you have assigned). I recommend writing on 3M Scotch Post-It notes and sticking that on the back of a photo (instead of writing directly on the back of a photo).

I also recommend  that you include a piece of cardboard (like a postcard) with your photo prints for added protection. If your photos are very valuable, I  recommend that you make copies or place your photo prints between two pieces of cardboard and sealing everything in an appropriate-size plastic bag.

Hi!
I got the pet portrait painting of Riley on Wednesday and it is so amazing! You captured his eyes perfectly. I gave it to my mom and it made her cry. You were always so great about questions, the shipping was very quick, and the painting is incredible! Thank you so much! I will recommend you  to everyone I know! - Kristy

Hello,
I just wanted you to know that I received Striker's large portrait.  It is WONDERFUL!!!!  You are so good!!  Thank you so much.  I just dropped it off today at the framing shop.  I cannot wait to see the finished puppy portrait.  I am so excited.  This will be one of the best gifts I can ever give to my parents and all because of your fantastic work.  Thank you so much.
I hope that Spooky is doing well.  Have a nice holiday season.
